Christian Salmon ayant trusté, dans la plus grande indifférence (et pour ne pas dire la plus grande connivence) médiatique, le discours sur le storytelling en France, on observera avec profit nos alter-ego anglosaxons. Une simple recherche sur YouTube offre, parmi les premiers résultats, une promesse alléchante : « Storytelling: theory and practice ».

Une vidéo universitaire qui affirme : « Professor Brian Sturm presents storytelling as a way of organizing information, conveying emotions, and building community. A model of storytelling as altered state of consciousness (the story trance) is presented that inlcudes 16 portals to altered states. Three stories are told to illustrate the theoretical model: Truth and Story; What happens when you really listen; and The stone cutter. Storytelling ethics and the need for trust and truth are discussed. »

Le résultat : 45 minutes d’un cours, tendant certes parfois vers le soporifique, mais dont la théorie explique enfin avec rigueur et clarté les mécanismes du storytelling narratif.

Une recherche sur Google nous apprend que Monsieur Sturm est une personne fort avisée puisque, après des mois de recherche : « Is it true that young girls favor books about horses, and little boys prefer pages filled with cars? According to Dr. Brian Sturm, whose research explores trends in children’s reading preferences, the answer is yes.”

Ce n’est pas Monsieur Salmon qui irait étudier le rôle des chevaux et des voitures chez les pré-pubères.
